Local Research Initiative

  • Melba D'Souza, R.N., Ph.D

Assistant Professor, Nursing and Population Health, TRU

I have completed research studies to give a voice to people’s experiences and perspectives living with a cancer diagnosis, treatment and survivorship. Another research study shared insights on prioritizing psychosocial and emotional recovery as well as coping and survivorship to support people with breast cancer in collaboration with community partnerships.

My community of practice focuses on health promotion and well-being of people living with cancer and caregivers in urban and rural communities being involved with community partnership.

My work through the cancer care research is comprised of health and quality of life of citizens and ethnocultural groups with a particular focus working with people for developing culturally appropriate person-centered care.
